This week Scope Construction completed the final session of our latest "Unbox Your Future" programme, welcoming A Level Business Studies students from Loughborough College Group on a site visit to our affordable housing scheme in Atherstone, where we are converting a Grade 2 Listed, former office building, into 14 flats and 6 new build, two -bedroom homes to the rear.
In partnership with the Leicester and Leicestershire Careers Hub the UBYF programme aims to give young people real world experiences and engagement with businesses from all sectors. Colleagues Maz Patel, Ben Summerton, Jim Burman and Glenn Slater were joined by our latest recruit Emmanuel Hession (Degree Apprentice – Construction Management) and Pabjot Mattu (Undergraduate – QS), who is with us on 2 weeks work experience through the BrightER Futures programme with DMU. They gave insights into careers in construction and the different pathways into a variety of roles including; marketing, quantity surveying, site management and project management, highlighting their own personal journeys.
Students were also presented with prizes for the Bridge Building Challenge completed the week before.
Going forward, our intention is to form a strategic skills partnership with Loughborough College Group and embed the Unbox Your Future programme into the Year 12 curriculum.
Scope is delivering the Atherstone development in collaboration with Cornerstone Partnership for North Warwickshire Borough Council through a turnkey agreement.
